Hemantika festival 2019: An enchanting season celebrating Indian dance collaborations

SBDC's much-anticipated Hemantika Dance Festival is back for 2019 (2 & 3 November), based on an exciting new theme of 'Collaborations'.
Hemantika 2019 will showcase unique partnerships across the rich variety of Indian classical and other distinct dances including Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Chhau, Mohininatyam, Kuchipuri, Uday Shankar style and of course, Kathak!

Featuring the best of established and emerging British artists, the varied programme includes performances, workshops, film and debate. We're also excited to offer a one-of-a-kind Chhau martial arts dance workshop with the renowned Santosh Nair from India, and Kathak intensives with Sujata Banerjee.

Now in its fourth year, Hemantika is one of UK's standout dance festivals and is held in the last few days of autumn, or as Rabindranath Tagore called it, the season 'Hemantika'.
The brainchild of Sujata Banerjee, the Festival brings together dance artists, practitioners, students, and regular and new audiences to offer an immersive dance experience, thereby creating an energy and buzz akin to the invigorating cultural maahol (environment) found in India.
